Earlier today, 11 November 2019, Mawlana Hazar Imam joined a gathering of world leaders for a dinner reception hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.

The event was held ahead of the second Paris Peace Forum to begin tomorrow. Initiated by President Macron, the Paris Peace Forum was founded on the principle that international cooperation is key to tackling global challenges and ensuring lasting peace.

The first edition of the Forum in 2018 convened representatives of government, civil society, business, universities, and religious groups, for a series of bilateral meetings and interactive debates to devise solutions to international challenges.

At the gathering last year, held on the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, marking the end of World War I, President Macron said, “The aim of the Paris Peace Forum is to bring people together every year to promote practical action so that peace efforts make a little more progress every year.”
