The National Council for the United Kingdom is recruiting for the position of Programme Assistant Manager within the European Settlement Programme (ESP). Deadline for applications is 25th February 2022.

This is a unique opportunity to work across more than 10 countries in Europe in the humanitarian and social development field and to support the development and growth of a programme that has been making a difference in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. Since 2015, our Jamat has welcomed Murids from Afghanistan and Syria as they try to re-build their lives after leaving extremely difficult situations. Using a case-based approach, the ESP aims to accelerate and strengthen the settlement of the

Jamat in Europe by offering tailored plans for each family. The Programme Assistant Manager will work hand in hand with the Jamati as well as external Institutions to engage in this inter-generational and life-changing work.

Programme Assistant Manager:

Based in the UK or in Europe and with travel to Europe, the Programme Assistant Manager will support the Europe Programme Director in the overall coordination of the programme, including programmatic development, reporting, assessment, policy development and monitoring, human resource development, data management, communication and marketing.

Major Duties and Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Europe Programme Director in overseeing activities to ensure that programme objectives are met effectively, in a timely manner and within the approved budget.
  • Coordinate programmatic reporting and updating of programme’s KPIs / settlement dashboards.
  • Develop, implement and monitor HR policies and processes for all the staff.
  • Coordinate financial / budget management and reporting.
  • Contribute to programmatic development and innovation of the programme.
  • Support the Europe Programme Director in guiding / coaching the teams.
  • Coordinate the communication and marketing management of the programme in all the European countries where the programme operates.
  • Develop, implement and monitor processes and systems for data management and updates across Europe.
  • Create and continuously update a knowledge base of asylum policies in each European country where the programme operates and of services available in each country for refugees and asylum seekers.

Essential Qualifications

  • A professional qualification or a graduate degree either in social sciences, community development and/or international development.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in senior management as well as strong administrative and management skills.
  • Experience in reporting, including financial reporting, dashboards, planning and management of budgets as well as coaching teams for high performance.
  • Superior stakeholder management skills as well oral and written communication skills to create a variety of documents, including briefing notes, presentations, reports and proposals.
  • Fluency in English language.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe as required.

Desirable but non-essential qualifications

  • Experience within an NGO setting with international exposure to issues related to settlement.
  • Knowledge of migration / asylum policies.
  • Experience in communication / marketing of social development programmes.
