Jubilee Arts International Arts Festival will take place in Lisbon’s most acclaimed venues

Picture an arena, filled with thousands of spectators, lit by soft blues and greens; the rise and fall of murmurs reflecting the audience’s anticipation for the show to begin. Where are you? You are at the stunning Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal — one of three venues for the 2018 Jubilee Arts International Arts Festival (IAF), and host venue of the International Talent Showcase.

Altice Arena was built to fill the need for a large-capacity multipurpose venue and is able to accommodate over 20,000. Designed by Portuguese architect Regino Cruz, the arena invokes the image of a spaceship-like structure, harkening the idea of looking towards the future. The other two main venues for IAF are just as impressive.

The NOS Cinema within the Vasco da Gama Mall, which houses 170 stores, six cinemas, and a health club, will host the IAF’s International Film Festival, ideal to showcase our talented filmmakers in a way that will be exciting and interesting to festival patrons.

The final venue for the IAF is the Portugal Pavilion, a shell-like structure that houses two exhibition areas. The indoor space will be the main space for the International Art Gallery and an outdoor space that gives beautiful views of the Tagus river and will be a social space for patrons of the gallery. Many of these buildings have been the site of many international events, including Expo ’98.

The 5 km strip where the venues for the IAF are located can be found on the outskirts of Lisbon’s east-end, along the coast of the Tagus River. The area was revitalised from its former life as an industrial park into stunning examples of modern and deconstructivist architecture, now known as the Parque das Nações (Park of the Nations).

This area is brimming with family-friendly sights and attractions, including the Oceanarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world. We also recommend visiting the exhibits at the Knowledge Pavilion and taking a ride on the Telecabine Lisboa cable car, to take in some amazing views of the city.

With so much to see and do during and in between festival events, the Jubilee Arts IAF in Lisbon is the ticket for summer 2018...vejo você em Portugal! See you in Portugal!
