Mawlana Hazar Imam’s guidance on building bridges to understand and learn from one another, and his emphasis on local participation in the promotion of peace and pluralism served as an inspiration for two recent initiatives held in Georgia, USA.

Upon taking office, President Joe Biden committed to an initial goal of administering 100 million vaccinations in the country. The day after his inauguration, Focus Humanitarian Assistance USA (FOCUS USA) received a call from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Voluntary Agency Coordination Office to help support the national vaccination effort.

“America changes, we can change America – that is the promise of interfaith work,” Dr. Eboo Patel, Founder, and President of the Interfaith Youth Core.

A major undertaking to vaccinate Americans is taking place throughout the country, and volunteers have been eager to step up to the task. As part of an I-CERV initiative, over 25 volunteers partnered with Los Angeles County and Orange County to administer vaccinations to over 500 individuals. The volunteers included registered nurses, physician assistants, and non-clinical volunteers, who assisted with administering the vaccinations, post-vaccine observations, and registration.
