With her wit and commanding presence, Chief Judge Barbara Lynn of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas engaged an audience of legal professionals, students, and community members with a discourse entitled, “From the Bench: Civics in Action.” Judge Lynn is the first female partner of a Dallas law firm, and after her appointment by former President Bill Clinton to the bench and confirmed by the Senate, the first woman to hold the position of Chief Judge of the Northern District of Texas, in 2016.

A Lunch and Learn event to facilitate knowledge exchange between the Ismaili community and public officials was organized by the Ismaili Council for the Central US at Albuquerque Jamatkhana on April 13, 2019. Ismaili value systems that unify the Jamat globally and the ethics of service in our faith were shared with the guests.

Bell jingles, loud cheers, and upbeat music could be heard in Carrollton Headquarters Jamatkhana on November 21, 2018, as numerous volunteers competed to make meals for children and their families in the North Texas area. With turkeys roasting in their own ovens, volunteers chose to wake up and come serve on this Thanksgiving morning.

Every December, students wind down by snuggling up in their favorite blankets, binge-watching television sitcoms, and soak in the merry holiday season with heaps of food and family gatherings to enjoy a break from essays and midterms. However, this year, 20 students volunteered to take a more alternative route to the traditional winter break.
