Jamati Work in Houston will be from Monday, March 19 to Thursday, March 22.

The Jamati Institutions are pleased to share that Mawlana Hazar Imam will arrive in the United States on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Jamati Work in Houston will be from Monday, March 19 to Thursday, March 22.

The Jamats of the following regions will have their Jamati Work in Houston:

  • Central United States
  • Southwestern United States
  • Miami Headquarters Jamatkhana (all other Florida jurisdiction Jamatkhanas should go to Atlanta)

Entry Card Envelope Pick Up for Houston

Any adult age 18 and over from the family with valid photo ID and Registration Form Number can pick up entry cards for the entire family. Jamati members who have not received the Entry Cards or have questions, are requested to contact the Diamond Jubilee Call Center at 1-855-55DJUSA.

For those who have not picked up their Entry Cards, please visit the Mulaqat Information and Registration Center (MIRC) at the George R. Brown Convention Center starting Saturday, March 17 to Wednesday, March 21. The MIRC will be open from 10:00 am10:00 pm (CST).

Parking Pass and Parking Areas

There are several parking options around the George R. Brown Convention Center where pre-negotiated rates have been arranged. A parking decal, is available at the Information Desk in Jamatkhana, and is required for most parking options.

This Diamond Jubilee Mulaqat Parking Pass will be required to gain access to the parking garages and surface lots. Please note that the parking pass does not guarantee a parking spot as they will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Free Parking

There is no cost to park at surface parking lots which are within a short walk to and from George R. Brown Convention Center. Shuttles will also be available between the parking lots and George R. Brown Center. Approximately 1,700 parking spots are available in the Minute Maid Lot from March 18-22, 2018. A Diamond Jubilee Mulaqat Parking Pass will be required to gain access to the parking garages and surface lots. Parking Passes are available at the Mulaqat Information Desks. Please note that the parking pass does not guarantee a parking spot as all surface parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and the parking pass is required.

Paid Parking

The cost for parking garages that are connected to and/or across the street from George R. Brown Center, is $10 per entry. Over 1,500 parking spots are available at the North, South, and Central George R. Brown Center Garages from March 20-22, 2018.

An additional 1,200 spots are available at the Tundra Garage on from March 21-22, 2018. All garage parking is available on a first-come first-serve basis and tickets will require validation at the Information Desks inside the George R. Brown Center to receive the pre-negotiated rate. A Diamond Jubilee Mulaqat Parking Pass will be required to gain access to the parking garages and surface lots. Parking Passes are available at the Mulaqat Information Desks. Please note that the parking pass does not guarantee a parking spot as parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you park at any of the above - North, South, or Central GRB garages:

Take your parking lot ticket (not the pass) with you. Parking ticket must be validated at Mulaqat Information Center booths located inside GRB. The Jamat is encouraged to carpool. Overnight parking is limited only to hotel guests and cars left overnight may get towed.

Additional Parking

In addition to the pre-negotiated garages or lots, there are several lots and public parking garages available within a 5 to 7 minutes walk. Metered street parking is also available on the streets around the George R. Brown Center. 

Houston Shuttle Schedules

Shuttle services have been arranged from designated hotels to the Mulaqat venue and dedicated Overflow Facilities.

Houston Jamatkhana Bus Schedule

Bus services have been arranged from specific Jamatkhanas to the Mulaqat venue on specified days. 
 

Jamatkhana and Overflow Sites

Three new dedicated Overflow sites (March 18-22, 2018 evening only) have been added to the current Jamatkhanas and Overflow Sites, to accommodate the traveling Jamat during evening prayer only. Please refer to chart below for days each overflow location will be open.

Note: Prayer time at all locations will be 6:30 pm from March 18-22, 2018.
 

Staging Site

Mulaqat Ceremonies (non-Mehmani only) scheduled for Monday, March 19 will be held at Houston Principal Jamatkhana. Jamati Members must arrive to the Smart Financial Staging facility (18111 Lexington Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479) for morning ceremonies, and at Constellation Skeeters Field for evening ceremonies. After security check, the Jamati members will be transported to Houston Principal Jamatkhana, and back to the staging area.

Entering GRB on Ceremony Day

Important Locations at the Convention Center on Ceremony Day
  • Identify Family Meeting areas at GRB in the Lobby by Halls A, B, C, and D
  • Interfaith family room is located on Level 2 near Mezzanine D 
  • Small lockers for $10 are located on Level 2 near Mezzanine D Follow signs to Hall D (Waiting Area/Security)
