UK On the Day Checklist

Don’t make the mistake of not planning ahead or leaving an essential item at home on Darbar Day. Use this checklist to ensure a smooth, successful Diamond Jubilee UK Darbar at ExCel.

For information about attending Jamati ceremonies for which you have pre-registered at The Ismaili Centre, London, please see the guidance you received in your registration pack.

In advance

Register online, and collect your new UK Mulaqat card

Once registered, all members of the Jamat will need to collect new UK Mulaqat card for entry into UK Mulaqat events. 

Obtain time off from work or school

If you require a letter to give to your employer or to your child’s school, you can request one by e-mailing mulaqat@iiuk.org with your name, and either your employer’s name/ address OR the name of your child, the class or form of your child, and the name and address of the school. 

Please note: these letters do not guarantee authorised absence. The decision is granted at the place of work or school’s discretion only. A brief explanation of the historical significance of this event and suggested responses to possible questions you may be asked is available here.

Complete emergency info on wristband for children under 5

Wristbands have been included in your registration packs. These should be worn by children under the age of 5 at all time, in and around the venue. If you have not received one, please contact mulaqat@iiuk.org.

Obtain a medical certificate if you are under 65 and have asked for a chair

Chairs at the venue are limited. Those requiring chairs will need to specify during the registration and obtain the relevant medical certificates.

Ensure any additional or special needs are notified and planned for

Please contact the Special Groups Team at akswb@iiuk.org to discuss any specific arrangements you may need. Please complete a Health Passport (available for download here) and keep it with you at all events.

Electronic devices

To enhance the Jamat’s experience, and ensure the sanctity of the ceremonies that take place within the Darbar hall, electronic devices including mobile phones, any devices capable of recording, capturing audio, video or still images, storing, broadcasting or receiving data are prohibited and will not be permitted.

A limited number of lockers are available for storing electronic devices. Members of the Jamat who require this facility are encouraged to book in advance.

On Darbar Day

Your UK Mulaqat Card

Your Mulaqat Card will be required for entry to all events and venues and, if applicable, your Ismaili Centre Ceremony Pass. Please allow sufficient time for entry to the Darbar Hall.

Non-Ismaili family members and caregivers are required to have Entry Cards.

Electronic devices

The Jamat is respectfully requested not to bring any mobile phones, smartphones, smart watches or electronic devices capable of recording audio/video or transmitting data including tablets and personal computers.

Your Health Passport

Remember to bring your completed passport with you to all UK Mulaqat events, if applicable. A Health Passport is available for download here.
 
Necessary Medications and Medical Supplies

Remember to carry any necessary medications and/or medical aid supplies. Jamati members are also advised to keep a list of their medications and allergies with them at all times. If your medication needs to be refrigerated, please bring it in a bag with an ice pack.

Note that there will be first aid teams available to address any emergency medical needs.

Medical certificate

Chairs at the venue are limited. If you are under 65 and have requested a chair, please bring a medical certificate with you.

Permanent Wheelchair or Walker 

Members of the Jamat requiring the use of a permanent wheelchair or walker throughout the ceremony are requested to bring their own. Please include your name and phone number on your equipment. Wheelchairs will be available to transport Jamati members to and from their chairs if required. There will be a designated area for wheelchair seating.

Baby Needs and Supplies

Most baby supplies such as nappies, wipes, milk bottles, baby food, noiseless or stuffed toys, child carriers and car seats will be permitted inside the Darbar hall. Pushchair storage will be available outside the Darbar hall. Electronic devices or noisy toys will not be permitted.

Food for Members with Allergies or Special Diets

Snacks and bottled water will be available throughout the day. If you have a restricted diet, we recommend bringing some food items with you.

More information on meals will be available in due course.

We kindly request that Jamati members refrain from eating during the actual ceremony and that any rubbish is discarded appropriately. 

Finding family members

Since electronic devices are not allowed in the venue, we suggest that families arrange a designated meeting point should they get separated.

We recommend that reunification with non-Ismaili family members after ceremonies have completed should take place at the room designated for non-Ismaili family.

Child Identification Wristbands

Children under the age of 5 will be required to wear a wristband. These will be provided.  We urge parents to complete the information and place the wristbands on their children before entering the Darbar hall.

Comfortable Footwear

We recommend the Jamat wear comfortable footwear so that everyone will be able to walk with ease to, from and within the Darbar Hall.
