Participation & Submission Guidelines

  •   Community Members between the ages of 8 to 30 years are eligible to participate in the IDE8 Open Innovation Challenge. Age will be determined as on 1 June 2020
  •   You may register as an individual or as a group. Groups can consist of up to 5 participants, who must be named at the time of registration
  •   If participants do submit a cross age group submission, the submission will be judged based on the evaluation criteria of the eldest participant in the group
  •   Each participant can submit up to two submissions, one individual and one group submission
  •   Each submission must solve one or more challenges in the participants’ age group
  •   Submissions must be made in English only
  •   Entries must follow the submission format, specified below, based on age group

Video Presentations must follow below guidelines:

  •   Video not to exceed time duration specified below based on age group
  •   Make sure you are smiling!
  •   Make us smile - don’t tell us, show us!
  •   Film in landscape orientation
  •   Film in highest resolution possible from your phone (1920x1080)
  •   Keep a simple and appropriate background
  •   Speak loudly and clearly when recording the audio
  •   Position yourself in the centre of the frame, you should be waist high
  •   Ensure the room is well lit and you are not in front of a light source (which will put you in dark lighting)
  •   Present your pitch in one go and retake if you need to. If possible, ask someone to hold a piece of paper above the camera
  •   Send the file as a mp4 file
  •   Any incomplete submissions or submissions sent after the submission period shall be invalid unless otherwise determined by the organiser and at their sole discretion.
  •   The right to permit or restrict participation is at the sole discretion of the organiser.
