Programme Guidelines: Ages 8 to 12 years
Challenges
The first step in this program is selecting a challenge. The challenge must relate to COVID-19 and the post COVID-19 world.
The following challenges are some ideas that can be used or as a starting point for your inspiration:
- Handshake Alternative - people can spread germs by touching other people. Our hands carry more germs than most other parts of the body
- Cough Catcher - people can spread germs by coughing and sneezing
- Health Check - fever is one of the first signs that someone is getting sick, but it is hard to tell if someone has a fever just by looking at them
- No Sanitiser Left Behind - germs on our hands can enter our mouths when we eat
- Design For a Friend - children can easily catch viruses from other children
- Dream Bedroom - children who are sick with a virus can easily spread it to other children or their families
- Hands Off! - we can spread germs when we touch things with our hands
- Contactless Coins - money can carry germs because so many different people touch it
- Healthy Delivery - people have to stay in their homes and cannot go out to buy food
- Rubbish Remover - rubbish and waste can spread germs
Submission Format
The submission requires the following parts to be completed:
1. Submission Form
- Use the Ideation Sheet template to show the flow from challenge to solution
- Come up with a solution
2. Sketch Template (Available in your Toolkit)
- Sketch the solution using the sketch template
- Use clear and innovative ways to draw your sketch
3. Your Pitch: Video Presentation
- Explain solution/idea presented in the sketch
- Video should not exceed 2 minutes (please follow video guidelines listed above under Participation & Submission Guidelines)
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated against the following criteria:
RESEARCH Depth to which the problem was studied and analysed, including extent of analysis of existing solutions, and identification of a gap
INNOVATION Degree to which the solution makes life better by improving existing options, developing a new application of existing ideas, or solving the problem in a completely new way
CREATIVITY Imagination used to develop the solution; including the use of tools to develop the solution
SOCIAL IMPACT Level of social impact at a local, community or global level
PRESENTATION Message delivery, flow and organisation of the presentation
Programme Guidelines: Ages 13 to 16 years
Challenges

Participants must identify and select a challenge from the following set of challenges:
- Healthcare, Health Safety and Medicine - strengthening healthcare systems and advances in medicines to promote health and wellbeing for all ages
- Community Care and Safety - achieving positive well-being among people within all environments by reducing and preventing injury and crime. The goal is to build strong, resilient and lively communities
- Mobility and Travel - promoting ease of travel of goods and people
- Sustainable Urban Planning - organisation of communities to ensure they are liveable over the long term
- Supply Chain - movement and distribution of products from suppliers to customers
- Industry Impact - responding to challenges industries face due to changes in economic, environment and social, on a local or global scale
- Economic Growth and Development - increase in the level of production, living standards and advancement of technology of an economy
- Elderly Care and Wellbeing - maintaining a healthy lifestyle and creating support networks for the elderly
- Environment and Climate Impact - responding to changes within the ecosystem to protect and improve it
- Workforce - maintaining level of workforce, managing risk, and improving the quality and performance
- Educational Landscape - ensuring access to education to different groups of people and having maximum impact of teaching
- Misinformation and Communication - spotting accurate, trustworthy information and providing effective communications channels
- Global Security - measures taken by states and international organisations to ensure mutual safety and security
- Food Security - availability and access to food
- Emerging Technologies for Good - development of new technology for positive third-party benefits
- Futuristic innovations - foreseeing long term challenges and revolutionising the future
Submission Format
The submission requires the following parts to be completed:
1. Submission Form and 5P’s Mapping (Available in your Toolkit)
- Specify selected challenge theme
- Define the user pain-points that the solution is trying to solve
- 5P Mapping to be completed
2. Your Pitch: Video Presentation
- Explain your idea, using an extended elevator pitch
- Showcase your prototype (if applicable)
- Video should not exceed 3 minutes (please follow video guidelines listed above under Participation & Submission Guidelines)
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated against the following criteria:
FEASIBILITY Practicality and applicability of proposed idea
IMPACT Overall social impact, beneficiaries coverage, and idea durability
INNOVATION & CREATIVITY Level of innovation and creativity of the proposed idea

- Explain the solution at a high level, including: beneficiaries, stakeholders, it’s benefits, how the idea is unique and will be taken to market, risks associated
- Completed Social Enterprise Model
2. Your Pitch: Video Presentation
- Showcase your prototype
- Explain your idea, using an extended elevator pitch
