Kailash Kher and Kailasa

Kailash Kher’s rise from very humble beginnings to a well respected artist in the Indian movie industry is nothing but note worthy. Born into a family of humble means, Kailash left his home at a very early age of fourteen to try and follow his dreams in the music world. His first hit song “Allah ke Bande” made him an instant rockstar and there was no looking back. Today, he is regarded as a great sufi singer in the mould of the late Ustad Nusrat Ali Khan.

His band, Kailasa, with the two prominent brothers Naresh and Paresh Kamath provides a unique sound with their modern influences and Kailash’s earthy and folk mysticism. Kailash has performed numerous concerts and has given his voice to numerous movies as well as to the latest blockbuster Bahubali Part II. Kailash’s down to earth personality and humility are a role model.

Kailash is thrilled to be part of the Diamond Jubilee of His Highness the Aga Khan having performed before His Highness in the past and acknowledging his role in the social development of the under priviledged.

This Canada Day marks 150 years of confederation of this great country. It is a time to honour and recognize the past - from the indigenous populations that formed its foundation to the many other communities and individuals who have shaped and left their indelible mark on the Canada we know today. It is also an opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate what we are today - a nation that values inclusiveness, respects difference, and aims to provide opportunities for all to flourish amidst that diversity.
