Bamyan, Afghanistan, 24 April 2017 — Princess Zahra and Vice President Sarwar Danesh opened a 141-bed hospital facility today. Emphasising the health of mothers and children, the facility expands Bamyan Provincial Hospital’s capacity to deliver much needed services in obstetrics and gynecology, paediatrics and surgery.

London, 4 February 2016 — Deploring the devastation in war-ravaged Syria, Mawlana Hazar Imam called for the establishment of “islands of stability” to provide areas of relative safety in the midst of conflict. Toronto, 29 May 2014 – At the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Mawlana Hazar Imam gave a keynote speech this morning at a summit on the global fight to improve maternal, newborn and child health in developing countries. The gathering, brought together world leaders to focus on reducing the preventable deaths of newborns, mothers and children under the age of five.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services builds on the 2009 Agreement of Cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat the State of California.

AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December that aims to reduce loss of life from man-made and natural disasters. The MOU builds on the Agreement of Cooperation that has been in place between the Ismaili Imamat and the State of California since 2009.
