To support women during the postpartum period, simple gestures such as offering to pick up groceries, making a meal, or taking the baby for a walk can have a positive impact.

“Women are twice as likely as men to experience depression and anxiety, yet three times more likely to experience barriers to accessing mental healthcare,” explained Dr Simone Vigod during a session entitled Healthy Moms, Healthy Families – Breaking Down Barriers to Maternal Mental Healthcare at the Ismaili Centre Toronto in early February. 

As part of a multi-part conversation series hosted by Dr. Amyn Sajoo at the Ismaili Centre Toronto, Dr. Naheed Dosani, a palliative care and family physician at the William Osler Health System and the Inner City Health Associates, discussed life, death and belonging.

On 15 January 2019, world-renowned public intellectual Professor Mona Siddiqui, OBE, delivered the annual lecture commemorating Milad-un-Nabi, to an audience of over 250 government and community leaders, academics, and members of the Jamat on the topic of “Hospitality, Global Conflicts and Migration: From Divine Imperative to Social Conscience.” 

To commemorate International Day of the Girl Child, we look back at the Skate Girls of Kabul photography exhibition, created by artist Jessica Fulford-Dobson, and curated by Marianne Fenton. The exhibit was showcased at the Ismaili Centre Toronto, Aga Khan Museum, and Aga Khan Park in Autumn 2017, and at the Ismaili Centre Dubai in Spring 2018.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau celebrated the occasion of Navroz yesterday at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto where it was announced that the Ismaili CIVIC 150 initiative surpassed its pledge of service.

Toronto, 6 June 2015 — The Montreal-based Constantinople Musical Ensemble, along with special guests from Greece and Turkey, gave a concert at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. Their performance recalled the sights and sounds of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), a city rich in history and culture.

In the generous foyer of the Ismaili Centre Toronto, a large wall has become canvass to a pair of artists from Tajikistan. The plaster work of father and son team Khasan and Firdavs Dzhumaev will complement a space that is already adorned with other exquisite artwork.

Thousands of visitors streamed into the Ismaili Centre as part of Doors Open Toronto 2015. Held last weekend, the annual city-wide open house offered visitors free access to approximately 155 buildings of cultural, historical and social significance.

The Aga Khan Park was inaugurated by Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam on 25 May 2015. Situated along Wynford Drive, the Park provides a beautifully landscaped contemplative public space that encompasses the Ismaili Centre, Toronto and the Aga Khan Museum.

Connect Create Cairo is an exhibition and workshop that uses 3D printing technology to get people thinking about the past, present and future of cities and urban spaces. Recently held at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto, the exhibition gave participants a chance to become urban planners and conceive their own design solutions.

The opening ceremony of the Aga Khan Museum took place on 12 September 2014, following the opening of the Ismaili Centre, Toronto earlier in the afternoon by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mawlana Hazar Imam. They also marked the opening of the museum, together with Prince Amyn and the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. Among the distinguished guests at the ceremony were Prince Rahim, Princess Salwa, and Prince Hussain, former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, government leaders, diplomats, and leaders of Jamati and Imamat institutions.

Cairene sunsets and medieval tourists retrace the development of one of the most important centres in the Muslim world.

Cairo has been the talk of Toronto — at least in the halls of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and the Ismaili Centre. Through a series of lectures, leading scholars have been journeying into the thousand-year-old city, describing how it has been reshaped over the centuries, and sharing the historic impressions recorded by medieval visitors in their writings.
