The announcement of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s visit to Paris has filled the Jamat with happiness. The excitement is palpable, as the France Jamat prepares to host Hazar Imam’s final visit of the Golden Jubilee.

Members of the Jamat from Japan perform in “Rangeen Safar” — a showcase of the cultures of the countries in which the Ismaili Imams resided over 1 400 years, as well as the countries where the Far East Jamat lives today.

Jamati members from 11 countries of the Far East are gathering in Singapore for Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Golden Jubilee visit. The events and celebrations leading up to the Darbar reflect the diversity of the Jamat in the region.

Mawlana Hazar Imam is joined in applause by Presidentbanoo and the Vice-President of the Ismaili Council for Malaysia and Singapore, during a luncheon hosted by the Jamati institutions.

Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived at Changi International Airport on 1 December 2008, commencing his Golden Jubilee visit to Singapore. His Excellency Zainul Abidin Rasheed, the Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, received Mawlana Hazar Imam on behalf of the government.

In the days leading up to Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Golden Jubilee visit to Canada, the diversity of the Jamat’s cultural roots will come alive in celebration. Events have been planned across the country under the theme One Jamat, One Heart.

The Canadian Ismaili Muslim Youth Choir was formed in September 2007, in commemoration of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Golden Jubilee. Through the exploration of different genres of music, the choir seeks to express the Canadian Ismaili experience.

The Jamat of Tajikistan is eagerly awaiting the commencement of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s visit with anticipation and excitement. From sprucing up the streets to holding celebratory community gatherings, members of the Jamat are preparing for the country’s first Darbars in ten years.

On 13 September, Hurricane Ike surged through Houston with destructive force. The Ismaili Council and Focus Humanitarian Assistance established a Crisis Response Team to ensure the safety of the Jamat, while also assisting relief efforts in the wider Houston community.

Depicting the word “Allah”, this piece was carved from five different types of wood by Minaz Nasser.

In celebrating 50 years of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Imamat, many Ismailis sought to express their feelings creatively. A Golden Jubilee programme in the United States received thousands of entries, including works of prose, poetry and visual art.

“Noor of Allah, Rope of Imamat” was created by Bait-ul Ilm children across the UK as part of the Jubilee Jamboree celebrations.

The Golden Jubilee Visual Arts Exhibition, which toured the United Kingdom earlier this year, provided a platform for those with artistic talent to capture this special Jubilee period in our history through their own creative expression.

The Ismaili Centre is located opposite the Museum of natural History and the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington, London.

For one weekend in September, The Ismaili Centre opened its doors to the public. It featured in Open House London, an architectural exhibition aimed at opening eyes and minds to good design in the British capital.

The Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, Pakistan organised a nationwide Friends of the Environment art competition to raise awareness about the importance of the natural environment and methods of preserving it.
