The Aga Khan Foundation will conduct an onstage discussion on Empowering India’s Women that will take place at the Ismaili Centre, London on Thursday, 23 February. The event will be webcast at TheIsmaili.org/live and is expected to start at 8:15 PM GMT (London time).

Startup Alley at IPN LaunchPad 2016 is where investors and mentors had a chance to network one-on-one with startup founders seeking funding and advice.

Ismaili entrepreneurs and investors from nine countries gathered in California’s Silicon Valley last month to pitch ideas, share knowledge and to network with one another as part of IPN LaunchPad. The event was a chance for budding companies to access new sources of capital and connect with mentors and experts.

Islamabad, 27 May 2016 — As their working visit to Pakistan drew to a close, Princess Zahra and Prince Rahim expressed optimism and a sense of opportunity about the tasks that lay ahead of AKDN in improving quality of life for the people of the country. Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, 21 February 2016 — A new spirit of African confidence is drawing the continent together, allowing it to move forward with impressive progress, said Mawlana Hazar Imam today. He was speaking at the Africa 2016 Forum, which brought together African heads of state, government and business leaders to advance opportunities in regional investment and trade.

In January 2014, Prince Rahim and his wife Princess Salwa travelled to Kenya, where they joined in marking the opening of new facilities for the Diamond Trust Bank and Jubilee Insurance, and visited the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa.

Jinja, Uganda, 8 October 2012 – His Excellency Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda, inaugurated the 250MW Bujagali Hydropower Plant in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam today. The inauguration ceremony, which took place on the eve of celebrations marking 50 years of Uganda’s independence, was attended by government officials, heads of State from across Africa, international dignitaries and members of the diplomatic community.

Maputo, Mozambique, 16 December 2010 – In the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam, Mozambique’s president, His Excellency Armando Guebuza, officially inaugurated the refurbished Polana Serena Hotel, a historic water-front landmark in the capital city of Maputo, and one of Africa’s grandest colonial era hotels.

Maputo, Mozambique, 15 December 2010 – Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Maputo this evening on a two-day visit to Mozambique. During the visit, Hazar Imam will participate in the inauguration of the Polana Serena Hotel in Maputo.

Created under a public-private partnership between the Government of Mali and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the 103-hectare National Park of Mali creates a permanent green space in one of the fastest growing cities in Africa.

The Aga Khan Development Network’s involvement in West Africa began some 40 years ago, and has included investments in people, culture and enterprise. Last month, Mawlana Hazar Imam joined the President and people of Mali in marking the 50th anniversary of their independence, and inaugurated a National Park developed by AKTC as part of the occasion.
