Purpose of the work
The aim of the Portugal Settlement Programme (PSP) is to enable newly arrived migrants (NAMs) to rebuild their lives in safety after migrating from countries in conflict.
Rebuilding lives requires the provision of various support services including arrival orientation, obtaining legal status, accessing social welfare benefits and other general services such as language classes, housing support, job search, educational opportunities, access to healthcare, and additional settlement-specific support services using a case-based approach.
The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting mentors and families to have a correct integration in our society and also to ensure that families participate in PSP and National Council (NC) programmes for Portugal.
Main duties and essential responsibilities
- Assessment and characterization of the family;
- Develop and monitor the implementation, in coordination with Ambassadors and Mentors, of individual resettlement plans / personal life plans;
- Liaise with Ambassadors for internal service delivery;
- Coordinate and monitor the support provided by the Mentors and ensure quality and consistency in the approaches followed by the Mentors;
- Be the support of families whose Mentors have more difficulties;
- Involve "volunteer pool" in specific areas;
- Record and report on the progress and development of each family in the Case Management System (CMS);
- Support programmatic activities based on needs;
- Report to the Country Manager Portugal.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
- Professional experience in social intervention with refugee families;
- Ensure the well-being of the families;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Attendance, social monitoring and promotion of professional, social, cultural integration of refugee families;
- Make social diagnoses and develop the individual/family intervention plan;
- Ability to interact appropriately with families with different characteristics, habits, social and cultural contexts;
- Individual competences with focus on the client/families;
- Have the ability to integrate into multidisciplinary work teams, develop synergies/partnerships and work as a team through active participation;
- Excellent command of the Portuguese and English languages;
- Creative approach to problem solving;
- Good organisation and planning skills;
- Availability to travel domestically as required;
- Computer skills in user's perspective.
