The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is inviting for applications for its Secondary Teacher Education Programme - STEP.

Portuguese

STEP trains professional secondary-level teachers to deliver the Institute’s Secondary Curriculum. Are you a graduate who wants to develop your skills to become an inspiring teacher that can nurture and teach students the Institute’s Secondary Curriculum?

You could be an ideal candidate for STEP if:

  • If you are passionate about teaching and mentoring secondary students;
  • Have an interest in undertaking an academic study of historical and contemporary Muslim societies and the Ismaili Tariqah;
  • Or if you have a desire to conduct research in the field of education.

STEP is a bespoke programme unique to the IIS, specifically designed with the needs of STEP teachers, the ITREBs who employ them, and the communities they serve. STEP is taught by world-class faculty, from the IIS and other academic institutions, including the UCL Institute of Education.

As well as gaining an in-depth grounding in Islamic Studies and developing a comprehensive teaching practice, you will also learn directly from your peers about the different cultures, traditions and experiences of Ismailis across the world.

This two year, fully funded graduate programme is based in London. Successful candidates will receive an MA in Muslim Societies and Civilisations from SOAS University of London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Reflective Practice (PGDip) from UCL.

Applications for the programme are now open and will close on November 1st 2021, 12:00pm.

Interested candidates are invited to participate in a webinar hosted by the IIS on October 11th, 4:00pm GMT. To join the webinar please register here.

This webinar will provide applicants with information about STEP, the programme structure and the admissions process.
