The Young Ambassadors Programme (YAP) offers a life-changing experience to work on meaningful projects with AKDN agencies and contribute towards transforming the quality of life of people in Pakistan.

An initiative of Youth Coordination Forum (YCF), Ismaili Council for Pakistan, YAP 2023 will provide an opportunity for youth to work with AKDN agencies, engage with its beneficiaries, and witness the network’s contribution in transforming the quality of life of people, particularly in rural settings in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral (GBC). It will also contribute positively to the professional growth of youth by developing their leadership, networking, communication, empathy, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

The key features of YAP 2023 include:

• Six weeks’ field-based assignment with an AKDN agency in GBC.
• Exposure visits to AKDN projects and an opportunity to interact with local communities.
• Ongoing mentorship during the assignment to enhance professional growth.
• Regular interaction with AKDN’s leadership.
• Professional development sessions.

YAP 2023 will welcome Jamati youth across Pakistan, who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme. The programme dates are from 10th July 2023 to 18th August 2023.

All applicants are required to indicate their first and second priority for working with an AKDN agency. The participating agencies include Aga Khan Education Service, Aga Khan Health Service, Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, Accelerate Prosperity, and Serena Hotel. The last date for submitting applications is 7th May 2023.

YAP is a partially subsidized programme - expenses related to accommodation, food (except during office hours), exposure visits and field travel during the assignment are covered under the programme. The participants will have to bear the transportation cost of travelling to Gilgit/Chitral from their place of residence during the start of the programme and from Islamabad to their place of residence after the programme concludes. The participants will also bear all other discretionary costs.
