The Global Encounters Festival 2024 (GE Festival) is a high-caliber global sports tournament advocating excellence, healthy competition and sportsmanship by complying with international standards established by the various international sports federations.

The Ismaili eSports series was incorporated within the Global Encounters programme under the umbrella of the Jubilee Games. The Ismaili eFootball Cup was the first initiative held virtually, bringing together the global Jamat in a series of regional and national activities from August 2020 and culminating in a competitive international tournament in the first two weekends in September 2020. This was followed by The eChess Cup held in March 2021, registering over 1500 participants across the globe, ending in a competitive international tournament in the first two weekends of June 2021. The third eSport which was hosted was the eBasketball Cup in February 2022, bringing over 200 participants across the global Jamat, ending in a competitive international tournament in the first two weekends of June 2022.

Digital programming for the global Jamat has been in development and as a result of the previous COVID-19 environment, virtual initiatives were accelerated. In Far East, the success of their eFootball program provided a foundation of best practices and a realization of opportunity to bring eSports to the global scale. As a result, a global digital eSports tournament was delivered to continue the tradition of excellence in international sport, as well as continued Jamati engagement in a Jubilee initiative regarded as a fixture in the Ismaili Calendar.
