Remarking on the historic occasion of the Diamond Jubilee, Mawlana Hazar Imam stated, “It is a joyous week of celebration in Portugal for my community, for me personally, and I hope also for the Portuguese who have welcomed my community so warmly.”
Speaking at the state dinner in Mawlana Hazar Imam’s honour, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa reflected on Hazar Imam’s dedication to improving the quality of life of people around the world.
“The work carried out in different corners of the world is a demonstration of this constant concern of Your Highness and your family, for whom the concept of happiness is also the perception that conceived and implemented projects actually have a positive impact on the day to day lives of people, regardless of creed or origin,” he said.
Government and diplomatic representatives, along with leaders of the Jamat and AKDN were among those present at the reception.
On Tuesday 10 July, Mawlana Hazar Imam will address the Portuguese Parliament, which will be streamed live on https://the.ismaili/live at 11:45 AM Lisbon time in both English and Portuguese.
