CHECKLIST: What to bring with you on Mulaqat Day

Here is a checklist of items you need to bring with you on Mulaqat Day.

Don’t make the mistake of leaving an essential item at home on Mulaqat Day. Use this checklist to ensure a smooth, successful Diamond Jubilee USA Mulaqat 2018.

Entry Cards and Other Ceremony Cards

An Entry Card and valid ID will be required for all adults 18+ for entry to the Mulaqat Hall. The doors to the Mulaqat venues will be open to the Jamat at scheduled times only. The Jamat is encouraged to plan their arrival time accordingly.

Interfaith Family members and Interfaith cregivers are not required to have Entry Cards to access the Interfaith Family Room.

Valid Photo IDs for All Adults 18+

A valid ID can be any form of officially issued U.S. photo ID, which has a name, date of birth (preferred), and photo of the Jamati member. It can be issued by the USA federal or state government. It could be a passport, driver’s license, or state ID. It could also be U.S. issued school, college or university ID. The ID will be considered invalid if the picture on the ID does not resemble the Jamati member.

Necessary Medications and Medical Supplies

Remember to carry any necessary medications and/or medical aid supplies, along with health insurance and emergency contact information for each family member. Jamati members are also advised to keep a list of their medications and allergies with them at all times.

Those with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, or heart disease, are advised to keep an adequate supply of medication and carry copies of prescriptions with a doctor’s name and contact information and, where appropriate, Medic Alert bracelets, EpiPen, insulin shots, etc. If your medication needs to be refrigerated, please bring it in a bag with an ice pack.

Note that there will also be first aid stations and mobile medical teams at the Mulaqat sites to address any all health medical needs.

Permanent Wheelchair or Walker

Members of the Jamat requiring the use of a permanent wheelchair or walker throughout the ceremony are requested to bring their own to the venue. Make sure to include your name and phone number on your equipment. Temporary wheelchairs will be available to transport Jamati members to their seats, meals and restrooms. There will be a designated area for wheelchair seating.

Baby Needs and Supplies

Note that baby diapers, tissues, milk bottles, baby food, noiseless or stuffed toys, child carriers and car seats will be permitted inside the Mulaqat hall. Stroller storage will be available outside the hall before security.

Food for Members With Allergies or Special Diets That Are Nut-Free

Light snacks will be served on site and water bottles will be available. However, there are limited exceptions made for individuals with certain medical conditions (e.g. diabetics, those with food sensitivities), as well as parents of young children who require milk, baby formula and/or light snacks. Please ensure any food products brought to the venue are nut-free.

We kindly request that Jamati members refrain from eating during the actual ceremony and that any trash is discarded appropriately.

List of Family Member Names and Phone Numbers

Since electronic devices are not allowed in the venue, we suggest that each member of the family keep with them a list of their family member names and phone numbers in case they need to reach them after the ceremony.

Child Identification Wristbands

Blank wristbands are included for children 6 years of age and under as part of the Entry Card envelope for the family. We urge parents to complete the information and place the wristbands on their children before departing for the Mulaqat hall. Wristbands will also be provided for those who have selected a Medical Code on the registration form.

Comfortable Footwear

All the walking done both getting to the Mulaqat Hall and inside it throughout the day can be harsh on your feet. We recommend the Jamat wear comfortable footwear so that everyone will be able to walk with ease.

Shawls / Sweaters

Weather in March can become unpredictably cold at times. The Mulaqat venues are centrally climate controlled, and may be uncomfortable for some Jamati members. As such, we recommend the Jamat to bring their shawls / sweaters so they can be comfortable throughout the day.

*REMINDER:  Please note that ALL mobile phones, smart phones, smart watches and electronic devices capable of recording audio or video, including tablets, personal computers, as well as any other devices capable of photographing, broadcasting or receiving data will not be permitted inside the Mulaqat hall.
