5 things to do before you leave for USA Mulaqat

Before arriving and the Mulaqat Hall, please ensure you have these important items with you.

To ensure your plans for the Mulaqat run as smoothly as possible, here are some things to remember before leaving for the Mulaqat venue:

1. Make sure each family member has their Entry Card, all necessary ceremony cards, and every adult has a valid photo ID.

A valid ID can be any form of officially issued U.S. photo ID, which has a name, date of birth, and photo of all adult Jamati members (18 years and older).  It can be issued by the U.S. federal or state government. It could be a passport, driver’s license, or state ID. It could also be U.S. issued school, college or university ID. The ID will be considered invalid if the picture on the ID does not resemble the Jamati member.

Children under 18 years old do not need a photo ID.

Interfaith Family members and Interfaith caregivers will not require Entry Cards to access the Interfaith Family Room.

2. Pack all your medications.

Each family member that needs any medications and/or medical aids should bring them to the Mulaqat site. If your medication needs to be refrigerated, please bring it in a bag with an ice pack. Note that there will also be First Aid stations and mobile medical teams at the Mulaqat sites to address any medical needs.

3. On the day of the Mulaqat, leave all prohibited items safely at home (including cellphones).

Please ensure ALL mobile phones, smartphones, smartwatches and electronic devices capable of recording audio or video, including tablets, personal computers, as well as other devices capable of broadcasting or receiving data, have been left at home or safely secured elsewhere. Please note that a very limited number of lockers will be available for a cost at the site to store personal items. Snacks and water will be provided for the Jamat at the venue.

4. Properly secure your home and businesses.

The Jamati Institutions would like to remind the Jamat to take appropriate safety measures to protect their homes, businesses, and vehicles during the visit. For those travelling from outside the Mulaqat city, please ensure that your homes are properly alarmed and your vehicles are parked securely. If you are out of town for an extended period of time, please ensure that your mail is managed properly. Additionally, law enforcement officials commonly advise individuals not to post their vacation information on social media until after they have returned.

5. Plan your travel route to the Mulaqat hall, including traffic.

Whether you are attending the Atlanta or Houston Mulaqat, be mindful of travel time and traffic delays. Plan ahead by securing your rides and if you are driving, consider estimating your drive time the night before using Google Maps or Waze.  You can also follow local news stations for traffic information.
