Six bright minds have graduated from AKEB's Advanced Coding Classes, embodying future-ready skills and problem-solving prowess

In response to the rapid digitization of our world, the Aga Khan Education Board for Australia and New Zealand (AKEB) has embarked on a pioneering coding initiative aimed at equipping young minds aged 8-12 with essential digital literacy skills. With technology increasingly integrated into every facet of modern life, AKEB recognizes the imperative for youth to not just adapt but excel in this digital landscape.

Through meticulously designed coding classes, AKEB goes beyond merely teaching programming languages. The curriculum is structured to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in students, essential attributes for success in an AI-driven future. By learning to analyze problems, break them down into manageable components, and develop logical solutions, students not only gain proficiency in coding but also acquire skills applicable across a spectrum of professions.

Furthermore, AKEB's coding initiative fosters a culture of mentorship and leadership. Exceptional graduates of the program are offered the opportunity to serve as teaching assistants, with a pathway towards becoming coding class teachers. This not only reinforces their own learning but also allows them to inspire and guide the next generation of coders, creating a cycle of knowledge-sharing and empowerment within the community.

The delivery of AKEB's coding classes is designed to be accessible to students across Australia and New Zealand. Conducted online on a weekly basis over an eight-week period, the classes provide flexibility and convenience without compromising on quality. To ensure comprehension and retention of concepts, students are assigned weekly homework tasks and undergo a final assessment at the end of the program.

Recently, the success of AKEB's coding initiative was highlighted by the graduation of six students successfully completing and graduating from ‘Advanced Coding’ and the inclusion of two program graduates as teaching assistants. This not only underscores the effectiveness of the program in nurturing talent but also serves as a testament to the transformative impact it has had on these individuals. Their journey from students to mentors exemplifies the ethos of AKEB's coding initiative: to empower youth for the digital age and beyond.
