In December, Ismaili CIVIC Brighton partnered with The Trussell Trust and The Whitehawk Foodbank to collect donations of non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta and tinned food to support the homeless and vulnerable in the city.

Food poverty during the pandemic has escalated significantly. At the beginning of 2020, The Whitehawk Foodbank served around 48 local beneficiaries. By the end of 2020, this rose to 320, making Ismaili CIVIC’s work invaluable. Generous donations from the local Jamat resulted in approximately 1,000 meals for local people in crisis.

This was part of an ongoing nationwide partnership with The Trussell Trust and Ismaili CIVIC. Food drives at Bristol, Edinburgh and North West London are planned in 2021.
