Nairobi, 11 December 2015 — Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Kenya today, where he will participate in Jamhuri Day celebrations at the invitation of His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jamhuri Day is a national holiday marking the anniversary of Kenya’s establishment as an independent state. The celebrations will take place tomorrow at Nyayo National Stadium.

During his visit, Mawlana Hazar Imam is expected to hold private talks with President Kenyatta and other senior government officials at the State House.

Mawlana Hazar Imam has a long-standing relationship with Kenya, and the institutions of the Ismaili Imamat continue to make significant contributions to the social and economic development of the country and the wider East African community.
