The Lions Club in Whitehorse Council (Melbourne) hold an annual Australia Day breakfast for the wider community. For the last 8 years, I-CERV volunteers (Ismaili Community Engaged in Responsible Volunteerism) have supported the cooked breakfast event attended by 700+ community members. This year, 2018,  the event opened with a special performance by our ANZ Ismaili Pipe Band followed by the National Anthem performed by the City of Whitehorse Band and raising of the Australian Flag by the Girl Guides.

The guests at breakfast included the Mayor of Whitehorse Council, Cr. Denise Massoud, Councillor, Cr. Raylene Carr and Neil Angus, State Member for Forest Hill. Nildhara Gadani, Founder of Australia India Women Entrepreneurs Forum, described it as an “amazing performance by Ismaili Pipe Band".

Australia Day is the official National Day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships. In present-day Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new members of the Australian community.
