Through Ismaili CIVIC, Ismailis in numerous countries give back to their communities by assisting the vulnerable, contributing to healthcare institutions, supporting environmental initiatives, and participating in various other civic engagement efforts.

This initiative was held on 20th June 2021 and occurred simultaneously in Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Tete, Gaza, Quelimane, and Pemba and on 27th June 2021 in Chimoio.

Together with other faith communities – Hindu Community, Sunni Muslim Community, and society at large - this initiative collected a total of 203 donors of blood which are extremely important in this pandemic time where blood banks are facing a stock reduction of blood.

During the blood drive in the city of Beira, the Blood Bank Director from Hospital Central da Beira Dr. Filomena Gonçalves said: “The Ismaili Community is one of the institution's largest donor collaborators per year and has increased its stock three times,” she said. “There is always a need to do donation campaigns because blood goes in and out. As HCB, we are responsible for patients from other provinces, in addition to those who are transferred from the districts. We have operations and emergencies, blood is always needed”, she stressed.

The next donation campaign is planned for October 2021.
