Global Ismaili CIVIC Day is a day/weekend when the Jamat around the world, in unity, demonstrate our centuries-old tradition of serving humanity and enriching the lives of the communities in which we live.  The first ever Global Ismaili CIVIC Day will be held on the weekend of 26th September 2021. Responding to the Pandemic and Protecting the Earth - first ever Global Ismaili CIVIC Day sees thousands of volunteers across the globe pledge to offer more than hundreds of thousands of hours of voluntary service to strengthen communities through local efforts.

In the Kenya jurisdiction, activities are planned across Kisumu, Mombasa, Nairobi, Burundi, South Africa, Namibia and Swaziland. See details below on how to participate in specific activities:

North Highridge Primary School Donation Drive

We invite all our Ismaili brothers and sisters who wish to give to the students affected by the recent deep sea slum fire. Donations of educational books, clothes, stationary and nonperishable food item can be dropped to the Safety and security office at Darkhana Jamatkhana, Nairobi.

Appreciation of Frontline Workers on 27th September

BUI students have made special cards for frontline workers, and these will be delivered by a limited group of volunteers on 27th September.



KISUMU:

Computer Skills and Book Drive for the Underprivileged

We will be donating a computer and books to the underprivileged children at the Shakil Muslim Orphanage in Kisumu and help them to learn digital skills and engender readership which will supplement their current educational efforts in order to improve their lives. We invite all our Ismaili brothers and sisters who wish to donate educational and children's books, clothes, stationary and non-perishable food items which will be presented to the orphanage. Cash can also be donated, which will be used towards the Computer Skills project. Donations can be dropped off at the Kisumu Council office on or before Friday, 24th September during working hours.


Appreciation of Frontline Workers on 26th September

As part of the Global Ismaili CIVIC Day we will recognize those at the front line who have and continue to work tirelessly in order to give care to the patients affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We will Celebrate our Heroes.



BURUNDI:

Back to School Donation Drive

We will be giving back to the underprivileged children of Gatumba, Burundi. We will be donating 750 blankets for children under the age of 5 and school supplies for another 750 children in primary school .  We invite all our Ismaili brothers and sisters who wish to contribute, to do so while exiting Jamatkhana via our donation box between 15th and 25th September.
