In Dushanbe, Mawlana Hazar Imam called on His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, at the Palace of Nations. Together, they reviewed collaboration between the Tajik government and the Ismaili Imamat in developing institutions and programmes that respond to the challenges and opportunities of contemporary social, economic and cultural development in Tajikistan. President Rahmon also hosted a lunch reception in Mawlana Hazar Imam's honour. This was followed by Hazar Imam's meeting, at the Ismaili Centre, Dushanbe, with the leadership of the newly-established Jamati institutions in Tajikistan.
The establishment of a Jamati institutional structure for the Tajikistan Jamat is a historic step forward in Mawlana Hazar Imam's endeavour to introduce in that country Ismaili Constitutional bodies and processes, in common with those that have been established in other parts of the world. Addressing the leadership, Mawlana Hazar Imam emphasised the significance of the formal establishment of Jamati institutions to serve the needs and requirements of the Tajik Jamat.
As Mawlana Hazar Imam prepared to depart Dushanbe, he was bid farewell by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the AKDN Resident Representative and the leaders of the newly-appointed Tajik Jamati institutions.
