At the request of His Excellency (retiring) Ambassador of Libya, Dr Aref Ali Nayad, the Ismaili Centre Dubai hosted the Ambassador and a two member delegation to morning coffee.
The delegation included the Consul General of Libya to Dubai, His Excellency Muhammad Gaair, who has also resigned, and is the Ambassador Designate of Libya to UAE in the new government and Mr Hassan Al Khoury, who is a close confidante of His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan.
The Ambassador had expressed the wish to visit the Centre as he is deeply aware of the work of AKDN, the Ismaili Imamat, and knows the Ismaili Centre in London. The Ambassador was the lead coordinator of the Libya Stabilization Team and also the coordinator for the National Transitional Council of Libya. Libya will finally have its national elections on 24 December 2021 for a democratic parliamentary body, and President. At the behest of the UN, and others, he is standing as President of Libya in the elections.
The Ismaili Centre, Dubai was represented by members of the Diplomatic Outreach team. A presentation of three videos on the work of AKDN was done for the delegation.
