Karibu means “welcome” in Swahili. When you hear the word, it will likely be accompanied by a kind smile, a friendly handshake and a happy reception.

From the vast plurality of its people and cultures, to its stunningly beautiful sea and landscapes, the warmth of karibu follows you throughout Kenya. Regarded by many as the “jewel of Africa,” the country has some of the continent's finest beaches, a rich array of wildlife, towering snow-capped peaks, lush highlands covered with sleek green coats of coffee and tea plantations, and the most spectacular stretch of the Great Rift Valley.

But it is the Kenyan people who are the essence of the country's charm. Kenya boasts a fascinatingly diverse population of 37 million, comprising over 40 different tribes and communities, each with its own language and culture.

Nairobi is the country's capital and, with a population of 3 million, its largest city. A bustling financial centre, it offers unique cultural destinations such as the Nairobi National Museum and a national game park in the heart of the city.

Karibu!
