Through a combination of art and advocacy, Prince Hussain’s involvement at the UN Climate Conference inspired collective action in the face of climate change, and reinforced the role of creativity in driving positive change for our planet.

For the past two months, Expo City Dubai has played host to Prince Hussain's photography exhibition, Fragile Beauty, which has both captivated visitors with its vibrancy, and drawn attention to the environmental challenges facing our oceans.

On Friday 8 December, Prince Hussain led a tour of his exhibition at the Terra pavilion, for Her Highness Sheikha Hissa bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Her Highness Sheikha Maytha bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Prince Rahim accompanied by an AKDN delegation.

The following day, 150 students from the UAE Jamat visited Expo City to tour the exhibit. As they studied each photo in turn, Prince Hussain emphasised the importance of clean oceans and underscored the grace and splendour of marine life such as turtles, sharks, seals and rays.

Focused on Nature, Prince Hussain’s organisation dedicated to conservation, also curated two thought leadership events during the COP28 climate change conference. The events were held in collaboration with partners including Mission Blue, Whale and Dolphin Conservation, The Natural History Museum - London, The Wild Dolphin Project and the Emirates Literature Foundation’s ‘Voices of Future Generations’ initiative.

These included a discussion on ocean conservation between Prince Hussain and Dr Silvia Earle, the celebrated marine biologist, explorer, and author; and a panel discussion featuring renowned conservationists, storytellers, and scientists, who discussed their ongoing efforts to protect whales and dolphins from the consequences of a warming planet, as well as the positive impact of cetaceans on climate change.

Expo City Dubai’s partnership with Focused on Nature serves as a reminder of the power of storytelling to raise awareness, drive agency, and inspire action towards the conservation of our planet. Focused on Nature and Expo City Dubai’s previous collaborations include a presentation at the United Nations SDG Moment in September 2022, where Expo City Dubai curated an immersive experience – the People and Planet show - in the General Assembly Hall, integrating images from Prince Hussain’s photography collection.

Prince Hussain's visit extended to the Aga Khan Early Learning Centre in Dubai, where he received a warm welcome from staff and children. Engaging with the community there, he toured the classrooms and met with staff, leaders, and other volunteers, as well as young children, who performed a song for him.
