As the global Jamat looks forward to celebrating the 85th birthday of our beloved Mawlana Hazar Imam, The Ismaili is pleased to present a weekend-long Salgirah programme on The Ismaili TV. Featuring a variety of content — from an inspiring short film production to a special children’s show — we hope to entertain and inspire the Jamat on this special and joyous occasion.
Delegates gathered at the fourth Paris Peace Forum at the Parc de la Villette to debate global challenges and put forward new principles of action for a post-Covid world. This year, young Ismailis had the in-person opportunity to volunteer at the event, and to interact with speakers and representatives of international organisations and NGOs.

At The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS), more than 50 students arrive in London every autumn at the start of the academic year to embark on a voyage of discovery. For those studying at the IIS, there is a deep sense of pluralism inherent in the student experience.
The new Ismaili Center in Houston will express in physical form the Jamat’s commitment to building a pluralist society and finding ways to unite diverse people and cultures. The Center’s design is contemporary, yet reflects a historically rooted, rich architectural heritage. It combines modern architectural technology with traditional Persian forms and ornament, including ceramic mosaics and mashrabiya screens.
The IFC EDGE Advanced Certification was awarded to the Aga Hall Estate, an upcoming residential high-rise development project, centrally located on the historic site of the family residence of Mawlana Hasan Ali Shah in Mumbai, India.

Seeking knowledge is inextricably linked to faith and spirituality in the Muslim tradition. In his address during the foundation laying ceremony of the Aga Khan Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mawlana Hazar Imam spoke of the intersection of education and faith. He said that, “The Holy Qur’an sees the discovery of knowledge as a spiritual responsibility, enabling us to better understand and more ably serve God’s creation.”

Mawlana Hazar Imam’s guidance on building bridges to understand and learn from one another, and his emphasis on local participation in the promotion of peace and pluralism served as an inspiration for two recent initiatives held in Georgia, USA.
This month gives us an opportunity to reflect on how we can each play a part in creating a more peaceful, generous, and hopeful world, especially during these challenging and stressful times. The theme for Mediation Week 2021 is “Confronting Conflict with Resilience and Courage.”
