Celebrating Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 86th birthday, the unveiling of the street signage took place on 8 December 2022. At the same time, the Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam’s overhead pedestrian bridge was officially opened by the AKDN and Aga Khan Hospital Dar es Salaam leadership. This overhead pedestrian bridge has been built to ensure the safety and security of the patients, their families, and employees of the Hospital.

The Aga Khan Development Network and the Aga Khan Health Services Tanzania warmly acknowledged the new street name and thanked the Government of Tanzania for this generous gesture..

"The AKDN has been present in Tanzania for over a century, contributing to poverty alleviation, education, health care, economic development, and cultural restoration. The newly-named Aga Khan Street is a testament to this presence," said Dr. Zeenat Sulaiman Khan, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Aga Khan Health Services, East Africa. "Seeing the name of Mawlana Hazar Imam on one of our street signs will be a point of immense pride and happiness for all members of the Jamat in Tanzania and it reminds us of the great history the Jamat has had in this country,"
