Global Encounters India
Global Encounters India is based at the Aga Khan Academy in Hyderabad, the largest campus of the flagship international academies with lush grounds, state-of-the-art facilities, beautiful sports fields, and two swimming pools.
Academy educators, programme faculty and local artists lead classes and workshops. The focus is on experiential and hands-on learning. Service projects are organised in collaboration with the Academy's stellar educators and local communities.
CORE classes are centred on ethics and leadership. Participants have an opportunity to explore local culture through workshops, including music, dance, theatre, local cuisine and visual arts.
Sports, swimming and free-time are offered everyday and evening programmes provide opportunities to gather as a global community and have fun!
What distinguishes this camp from the other Global Encounters offerings is a unique partnership with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) in India. Participants spend time in Delhi with AKTC, where they take part in tours and discussions with conservation architects at Humayun's Tomb, see the power of culture as a tool for development in the Nizamuddin Basti, and explore the arts through workshops with skilled artisans and artists.
Overall, the India programme draws inspiration from the rich, vibrant, and diverse cultures and faiths in the country. Get excited!
Global Encounters India will be from 24 December 2022 to 7 January 2023.

Health and Safety Information
As safety is a top priority, Global Encounters will regularly share the most current COVID-19 considerations, information and programme adaptations with prospective participants and families. Given COVID is dynamic, we are being flexible in our approach.
The Global Encounters Camps Team, the Council for India, and the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad are working together to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to safeguard participant health and safety.
The Academy in Hyderabad is a secure campus, staffed with 24-hour security. There is an infirmary on-site at the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad. Nurses will be on duty 24-hours a day for programme participants. In case of emergency, medical facilities are located close to the campus.
The global team will continue to monitor the safety and security situation globally and will advise adaptations to the programme as necessary.
It is expected that participants will be responsible, mature and exercise caution throughout the programme.
You can find more information on health and safety at camps by visiting the COVID-19 updates page.
Please note that we require all Global Encounters Camp participants and volunteers to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before the programme starts.
Applications are now closed for 2022 in-person camps.
