CONNECT explores important themes and current issues, partners with the agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network and other global institutions, and offers interactive workshops led by professionals, artists, and educators.
Our team is passionate about the power of youth and reflects the rich diversity in the Jamat.
Exciting elements of the camp include virtual field trips, family learning exchanges, opportunities to collaborate with new friends, guest speakers, pop-up performances, and fun activities that celebrate those things that bring us together!
Here is a glimpse into what our VOLUNTEERS have said about what they gained from the experience…
Top five skills developed at camp:
- Cross-cultural communication
- Group Facilitation
- Active Listening
"I have experienced the feeling of ONE JAMAT. I have gained confidence in interacting with teenagers. I have improved in managing technology. I have improved my collaborative skills."
"I felt very inspired by how optimistic and passionate the participants are and that brought me back to how I was in high school. Hopefully, I can keep the passion for world change with me as close as these participants had even at my age. I also learnt a lot about facilitation."
"I learned a lot from this camp. This camp taught me empathy. I learned that empathy plays a role in motivating everyone. We can progress with empathy."

Are you passionate about the arts, health, environment or entrepreneurship? Do you have a skill you can share with a group of global youth eager to learn? Are you interested in sparking curiosity and inspiring youth to discover their passion? Apply to be a Workshop Lead! In this role, you would lead a skill-building workshop for a group of 8-15 participants. Your responsibilities would include developing objectives and content for a curated workshop curriculum that fits into one of the four thematic streams of the camp. The goal is to create a warm, engaging and collaborative environment that allows participants from all over the world to get to know each other and learn skills that they can continue to apply after the camp. Support will be provided on how to (1) teach youth virtually, (2) build engagement, and (3) scaffold and adapt your curriculum to suit the learning needs of all participants.
Do you have a passion for youth development? Are you interested in interacting with youth and volunteers from around the world, leading activities and small group discussions that will create long-lasting memories? Are you over the age of 19 and working towards, or completed, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent? Apply to be a Facilitator for CONNECT! As a Facilitator, you will be responsible for managing a group of 8-10 youth from our global Jamat, serving as a role model to inspire the next generation of leaders. Additionally, you will work with your “Family” leadership and Facilitator group to create a virtual community for ~80 participants - planning, coordinating and delivering activities and lesson plans as needed.
Do you enjoy meeting people from all over the world? Do you have experience with culturally diverse groups of people? Are you organized, adapt quickly and able to manage dynamic environments? Are you a zoom whizz, breakout room master and do you enjoy learning how to use new technology platforms? If yes, apply to join us as an Operations Director at CONNECT! Operations Directors play a key role in both the lead up to, and the on-camp day-to-day operations and logistics for their assigned “Family”. They are part of the core Family leadership team and ensure that all Facilitators, staff and participants have a smooth experience throughout their virtual journey.
CONNECT brings together Ismaili brothers and sisters from around the world. Faculty play a key role in participant and volunteer enrichment related to advancing pluralism and understanding the ethics that underpin our faith. Faculty also bring to life the work of our Imamat institutions and the AKDN, weaving the camp theme into interactive lessons. If you are an educator with a deep passion for Islam, a flare for content development and delivery in a virtual forum, and a desire to enrichen the lives of the youth of our global jamat while working alongside like-minded individuals, consider applying to be a Faculty at CONNECT! STEP teachers, GPISH and IWTP graduates are highly encouraged to apply.
