Global Encounters Camps

Global Encounters Camps are international programmes for Ismaili Muslim youth focused on service, leadership development, cultural exchange, and global citizenship. Since 2012, over 1,400 participants from 40 countries have made lifelong friendships, contributed over 40,000 volunteer hours to local communities, and transformed how they think about the world.

Global Encounters Camps allow participants to experience lived pluralism in a residential setting while at the Aga Khan Academies and The Aga Khan University, and in a digital environment, during CONNECT.

During the camps, participants:

  • Work with local community organisations on service-learning projects
  • Gain a deep understanding of development
  • Experience the AKDN's work in action
  • Broaden their perspectives in thought-provoking and challenging courses
