The Aga Khan Music Initiative works to promote the revitalisation of cultural heritage as a source of livelihood, and as a means to strengthen pluralism.

Often referred to as a universal language, music provides a common theme to bring people together. Intended to entertain, educate, and inspire thought; music also has the ability to inform listeners about the diversity of artistic expression, and by extension, the diversity of peoples and cultures.

'Jubilee' featured Master Musicians of the Aga Khan Music Initiative, with special guests the San Francisco-based Kronos Quartet, and Bassekou Kouyaté.

The Diamond Jubilee Music Series, held at venues across the United Kingdom jurisdiction, promoted pluralism and cultural encounters through the medium of music, culminating in a spectacular finale at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

Jubilee 2018: An Intercultural Concert was held on 29 April 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden, in celebration of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee. The concert featured a dazzling array of Master Musicians of the Aga Khan Music Initiative and Guests and was webcast live on the.ismaili. 

A performance by artists of the Aga Khan Music Initiative Ensemble – Homayoun Sakhi on the Afghan rubab, Salar Nader on the tabla, and Wu Man on the pipa.

Today, Mawlana Hazar Imam announced the establishment of the Aga Khan Music Awards.

Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Houston yesterday for the second stop of his Diamond Jubilee visit to the United States. Upon his arrival, Hazar Imam was welcomed with a sabre salute by the Texas A&M Ross Volunteers, the State of Texas’ official honor guard.
