Positive developments at the Ismaili Economic Forum included collaborative efforts by businesses to further women’s empowerment and financial literacy to prepare women for corporate board participation.

Over 500 delegates from the Jamats of Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa gathered for the launch of the Ismaili Economic Forum (IEF) held in Nairobi in April 2019. The Forum was organised to bring together Ismaili businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs, to discuss and respond to rapid change in Africa and advancements in technology on the continent, and to build economic and knowledge capacity within the Jamat. 

The Festival of Friendship (FOF) brings together young people from numerous Asian communities in the country through sports and recreation.

The Jamat in Kenya, alongside other faith communities, recently participated in the Festival of Friendship 2018, in a show of unity, cultural diversity, and friendly competition.

The Communications and Publications Committee of the Ismaili Council for Afghanistan launched an audio-visual communications training programme across 10 Jamatkhanas in Kabul.

During the Diamond Jubilee Celebration in Lisbon, tours were arranged for members of the Jamat to visit the Ismaili Centre and its gardens.

Two decades ago, on 11 July 1998, Mawlana Hazar Imam and then-President of Portugal Jorge Sampaio officially opened the Ismaili Centre Lisbon. The Centre’s 20th anniversary coincided with the Diamond Jubilee Celebration held in Lisbon earlier this month, during which thousands of visitors attended the building and its gardens for guided tours.
