Ismaili fans fill the stands to cheer on athletes at the Los Angeles Special Olympics. Ismaili Council for the USA

When the Ismaili Muslim community in the United States was invited to assist with the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, the Jamat embraced the opportunity. Volunteers took on numerous roles, including hosting the delegation of athletes and coaches from Bangladesh.

In “Outsourced”, Rizwan Manji plays the part of Rajiv Gidwani, an ambitious and conniving assistant manager of a call centre in India.

Rizwan Manji, an Ismaili Muslim actor from Toronto, plays the part of Rajiv in the hit comedy TV series Outsourced. The show, which features a cast of South Asian actors premiered this fall on NBC to critical acclaim, and has garnered worldwide attention and publicity.

The audience eagerly anticipates the start of the evening performance at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.

A simple white stage at the Redondo Performing Arts Center lit up, as 1 400 years of Ismaili history unfolded through a mix of drama, comedy, narrative, legend, poetry, painting and film. The cast stole the audience away on a roller coaster journey of tears, laughter and merriment.
