This week, Ismailis and other Muslims mark Yawm‐e Ali, which commemorates the birthday of Hazrat Ali. The cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), Hazrat Ali is recognised as the most important spiritual and intellectual authority in Islam after the Holy Prophet, who, in accordance with the Shia tradition of Islam, designated him under Divine Command, as the first in the line of hereditary Imams from the Prophet’s own progeny.

Over the past decade since its opening, the Ismaili Centre Dubai has become established as a multidisciplinary hub of culture, faith, education, and community identity. Exemplifying the core values of Ismaili Muslims, the Centre offers a platform for dialogue, unity, and progress within the Jamat and the wider community.

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture commenced conservation and landscaping works at Sunder Nursery in 2007. The area has since flourished into a park comprising of formal and informal gardens, water features, orchards, pavilions, bird habitats, and a sunken amphitheatre for cultural events and festivals. The Mughal-inspired central areas feature marble fountains and flowing water set amidst geometric flower beds, and raised pathways.
