Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently completed a trip to Pakistan, where they visited a number of AKDN projects. One stop on their tour of the country was Lahore. As a vital part of the Mughal Empire, Lahore was famed as one of the world’s most cultured cities. Since 2007, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and the Government of Punjab have strived to reinstate this historical legacy.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services builds on the 2009 Agreement of Cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat the State of California.

AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December that aims to reduce loss of life from man-made and natural disasters. The MOU builds on the Agreement of Cooperation that has been in place between the Ismaili Imamat and the State of California since 2009.

The Ismaili Jamatkhana Lahore symbolises centuries of the community’s presence in the region.

The new Ismaili Jamatkhana Lahore is the first facility to be purpose-built for the Jamat in that city. Rooted in tradition and heritage, it symbolises centuries of the community’s presence in the region, and its continuity in a land steeped in the many interpretations and practices of Islam.
