The medium of dance unites and bonds people across the globe. During the Diamond Jubilee festivities, raas was a prominent dance form enjoyed across countries celebrating 60 years of the Imamat of Mawlana Hazar Imam.

The large contemporary photographs that greet visitors at the entrance to Syria: A Living History, contrast sharply with the devastation wreaked by the country’s six-year civil war. Instead, the exhibition at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, which spans 5 000 years, celebrates the land and people of Syria — and offers hope.

London, 4 February 2016 — Deploring the devastation in war-ravaged Syria, Mawlana Hazar Imam called for the establishment of “islands of stability” to provide areas of relative safety in the midst of conflict. Hazar Imam pledged $200 million towards achieving peace, stability, and reconstruction in the country.
