In case you missed the live webcast from Kazan in September, The Ismaili is pleased to publish the full 50-minute Aga Khan Award for Architecture film. Mawlana Hazar Imam presided over the 14th cycle of the award, which is presented every three years to projects that set new standards of excellence in architecture, planning practices, historic preservation, and landscape architecture.

This year, on 11 July 2017, the Ismaili Community around the world marked the Diamond Jubilee and the 60th anniversary of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s ascension to the Imamat.

 

In a ceremony held at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat in Ottawa, Mawlana Hazar Imam was lauded by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, who presented the Imam with their highest honour – the 2013 Gold Medal. In his remarks, Hazar Imam expressed his gratitude and went on to describe the connection between architecture and quality of life, explaining how the Ismaili Centres embodied for the Jamat the hopeful aspirations of a forward looking community.

Thursday afternoon, President Mohamed Manji of the Ismaili Council for Canada carried the Olympic torch through the Don Mills neighbourhood of Toronto. Earlier in the day, community members gathered for a pre-torch event hosted by the Ismaili community in partnership with the Flemingdon Food Bank.
