At the age of eight, Yannik Rahman discovered his passion and drive for tennis. Inspired by tennis players like Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic, Yannik has learned to conquer his fears and challenges during play-offs, from encountering gusty winds of 40 mph or persevering during a tournament despite his fractured shoulder. "Honestly, the main key for success in tennis and in life is to work hard and to believe that you can do anything, even in the toughest moments,” says Yannik. 

Earlier today, 12 September, Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Bolgar, located in southwestern Tatarstan, in Russia. During his visit, Hazar Imam spent time at a number of historic sites, and participated in a postage stamp cancellation ceremony to commemorate the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

In a Meet and Greet event hosted in the Ft. Lauderdale Jamatkhana, attendees had an opportunity to have their voices heard by the six candidates running for the position of Coral Springs Commissioner Seat 2. The event included an audience of Jamati and other community members.

Florida Jamatkhanas have turned to eliminate usage of plastic water containers and plastic bags. These are just two steps, in addition to other best practices, to “Going Green.” The initiative was launched January 1st in three Florida Jamatkhanas, and will continue to be implemented in the remaining two centers.

Few have the vision and courage to run for public office. It is a difficult path to traverse, but one that allows those with a commitment to voice their concerns and stand up for their values. Annisa Karim, from southwest Florida, did just that. She ran for the Florida State Senate in 2018.
