The Memorandum of Understanding signed by AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services builds on the 2009 Agreement of Cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat the State of California.

AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December that aims to reduce loss of life from man-made and natural disasters. The MOU builds on the Agreement of Cooperation that has been in place between the Ismaili Imamat and the State of California since 2009.

Karim Moledina has been a Scout for 50 years. In that time he has worked his way up through the organisation, steadily widening his scope of impact from his local roots in Mumbai to the national stage in India, and, more recently, beyond national borders to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tajikistan. Through the Scouting movement, he is enabling young people to put their values into action.

On 1 November 2011, Mawlana Hazar Imam and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, inaugurated the Dushanbe Serena Hotel in the heart of the Tajik capital. Prince Amyn and Prince Rahim were also present for the ceremony.

Dushanbe, 1 November 2011 – Mawlana Hazar Imam and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, inaugurated a new Serena Hotel in the heart of Dushanbe, the Tajik capital. Prince Amyn and Prince Rahim were present for the ceremony, as were dignitaries from the government, development and tourism sectors.
