Technopreneur Zaynah Bhanji, aged 15, spoke of the future potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help improve quality of life in parts of the developing world.

The annual Ignite Summit, organised by the Aga Khan Economic Planning Board in Canada, was held in Calgary earlier this year. Each instalment of the conference is hosted for entrepreneurs to meet, discuss themes of relevance, and exchange ideas. Farkhunda Niazi — an attendee and conference participant — wrote the following article, recounting her experiences at Ignite.

As the Arena doors opened and the audience eagerly began to take their seats, there was an air of excitement among the concert-goers. The night began with a special performance from the Portuguese Fado singer, Cuca Roseta, who delighted the audience with her powerful voice and the melodies of her accomplished band. Following the first performance, Cheb Khaled, the Algeria-born artist famous for his songs Aicha, Didi, and C'est la vie, took the stage and energised the audience with songs performed in French, Spanish, and Arabic, much to everyone’s delight. Vishal-Shekar, the dynamic Bollywood duo thrilled the crowds to close the concert.

The Ismaili Council for France, French NGO La Chaîne de l’Espoir, and the Aga Khan Development Network hosted an event on 10 April 2018 to present Dr Lee Hilling’s book A Place of Miracles. The event was held at the Afghan Embassy in Paris and was attended by representatives from the diplomatic and civil society sectors.
