Shortly thereafter, Hazar Imam met with Governor of Gujarat, Shri Om Prakash Kohli at Raj Bhavan (Government House), Ghandinagar, and later with the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani at his official residence also in Ghandinagar.
The leaders exchanged views on ways to expand areas of cooperation and coordination in the state of Gujarat and the surrounding area. AKDN agencies have been active in Gujarat for a number of decades, and have received national recognition for their work in rural development, sanitation, and housing, for the most marginalised communities in the region.
Mawlana Hazar Imam is in India at the official invitation of the Government of India. While in Ahmedabad, he is also expected to meet with the Jamat of Gujarat.
