After granting Diamond Jubilee Mulaqats in Calgary, Mawlana Hazar Imam departed Canada, concluding his 12-day Diamond Jubilee visit to the country.
While commemorating Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee, the Canadian Jamat also celebrated Canada’s 150th anniversary. To honour these milestones, the Jamat participated in Ismaili CIVIC 150, an initiative that pledged one million hours of service to improving quality of life for communities across Canada.
Building on a strong and long history of collaboration between the Ismaili Imamat and the Province of Alberta, Mawlana Hazar Imam and Alberta Premier Rachel Notley met on 10 May 2018 to discuss how to strengthen collaboration on areas of mutual interest.

Tickets are now on sale for the Jubilee Concert to be held on 5 July at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal. The concert, which will mark the beginning of the week-long Diamond Jubilee Celebration, is called “Kings of Rhythm,” and will feature internationally-renowned artists Cheb Khaled and the dynamic duo of Vishal-Shekhar.
A grateful and deeply contented British Columbia Jamat bid farewell to Mawlana Hazar Imam on 7 May as Jamati representatives assembled for his departure to Calgary, where he will continue his Diamond Jubilee visit to Canada.

Earlier today, Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Vancouver to begin the Western Canada portion of his Diamond Jubilee visit. Shortly after his arrival, Mawlana Hazar Imam met with the Honourable John Horgan, Premier of British Columbia, who extended a warm welcome and congratulated him on his Diamond Jubilee.
Mawlana Hazar Imam completed the first leg of his Diamond Jubilee visit to Canada, departing from Ottawa on 4 May after having completed several days of proceedings related to the work of the Aga Khan Development Network and Global Centre for Pluralism. On his departure, Hazar Imam expressed his appreciation for the work of the institutions and highlighted the importance of continuing to build strong institutions in Canada.
Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Vancouver on 4 May 2018 in preparation for his visits with the Western Canadian Jamats. He was received at the airport by British Columbia Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, along with leaders and representatives of the Jamat.
