The Refugee Women’s Network held a summit entitled “Empowering Women” at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. Refugee Women’s Network is a registered Canadian charity established in 2016, to provide a response to the needs of an influx of refugees settling in Toronto and the GTA by breaking the language barrier through education, advocacy and supportive programs.

The goal of the Network is to empower refugee and new immigrant women with tools and resources to enhance and develop their skills through education to successfully integrate into Canadian society without compromising cultural values.

Ann Kaplan Mulholland, President of iFinance Canada and star of the reality series “The Real Housewives of Toronto” talked about how she started her own company and raised 8 children. She addressed the attendees on how she balances her life. Anaar Dhanji, the Director, Technology & Operations Communications at BMO Financial Group shared how she is finding success in her field of law and how volunteering played an important, empowering role for her. Moreover, one of the graduates of Refugee Women’s Network’s Learning Lab, who also graduated from Seneca College’s Pre Apprentice ECE program and is now working in her field, shared her journey of achieving success after resettling in Ontario.
