Sports & Active Living

The Sports and Active Living portfolio seeks to highlight the importance of physical and mental wellbeing, individual sporting development and social and community development, within the Jamat.

To achieve these, the committee aims to:

1) Encourage members of the Jamat from all walks of life to regularly & meaningfully taking part in sport & physical activity.

2) Maximise sporting success, tell sporting success stories and organise major events for all to participate in.

3) Cultivate and help to contribute to a more productive, sustainable & responsible sports sector.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to postpone various events, including the Jubilee Cup. Whilst we are hoping for the return of live events in 2021, the health and safety of the Jamat is paramount to everyone within the institutions and we await Government and institutional guidance before we can confirm upcoming events.

However, if the last 12 months has taught us anything, it is that we must always be ready to adapt according to our circumstances. Since the first National lockdown in 2020, we have hosted a number of virtual sports and fitness classes on Zoom, hosted by our members of the Jamat specialising in these areas.

Virtual Exercise Clubs

Virtual classes have included Body Conditioning, Football, Zumba and Gymnastics 101 to name just a few!

Classes, which are free and easy to join via Zoom, are set to continue. Please follow Ismaili UK social media channels to find out about upcoming classes of for more information please contact us at [email protected].

You can also share your running, walking and cycling journeys wilth ellow Ismailis across the UK, via Strava - an app designed by athletes, for athletes!
